APCCS appreciates COVID-19 update by Minister for Health and Minister for Culture, Community & Youth
Singapore, 19 Feb 2020 – The Alliance of Pentecostal & Charismatic Churches of Singapore (APCCS) is thankful for an update on the COVID-19 situation, provided by Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong and Minister for Culture, Community & Youth Ms Grace Fu at a meeting with church leaders on 14th February 2020.
APCCS was represented at the meeting by Vice-Chairman Rev Dominic Yeo and Member of the Board, Rev Chia Beng Hock.
APCCS has encouraged its member churches to adopt precautionary measures detailed in Ministry of Health advisories, including temperature screening, deferring non-essential events and stepping up cleaning of worship premises.
Last week, it also released a short guide to member churches to support their implementation of these measures.
Noting that this is a period for APCCS churches to lead their people to respond in wisdom and faith, rather than fear, Rev Yang Tuck Yoong, Chairman of the Board, said, “The context of a crisis always contains opportunities for us to demonstrate God’s love in greater measure.
“It is a chance to think creatively about how we can bear the burdens of those around us,” he said.
APCCS continues to encourage member churches to appreciate and keep in prayer many people who are serving in frontline industries such as healthcare, immigration, transportation.
